JOIKO, is the kind of girl that goes after her ambition and is ready to take risk. The day of the release of this song, I instantly contacted JOIKO and, “Yo! you gotta handle this new release by UTADA”. She had no idea what I was talking about, So I sent over the track and romanized the lyrics for her to sing. She took it upon herself to tackle it and come through with an amazing cover and a excellent performance in a music video.

Today the Homie, DJ KREESE dropped his new DJ mixed “LOLLIPOPS, LIPSTICK and LALALALA vol 1” This mix is suppose to one of those mixes that you would make for the ladies and they would reply with “OMG!! So you might wonder how I’m involved in this? Haha! KREESE sent me a message, saying “I HAVE IN IMPORTANT TASK, can you HANDLE THE CHALLENGE?” Of course, I was down! KREESE went on to explain about how he had this special ladies mix coming up butneeded help with the title. So we brainstormed and came up with “Lollipops, Lipstick and LA LA LA LA”, which works well for a serious of this nature!
But he still need a cover for the series as well. So we decided to go with Nicki Minaj, since she is the ladies idol pink sugar idol of today, and I whipped up a Album cover for the mix!

Sayuri Elsie, is a upcoming L.A. local soul singer that comes with a wide story. Facing the tough life in L.A. country and traveling to Japan to live a separate life, Sayuri has a vast story to tell.
I first met Sayuri at a monthly Hip Hop event thrown by DJ WAX entitled “Beat Canves”. The event was full of local Japanese and American talent playing some of the most soulful music. During the performance of a couple DJs and this beat making group called Circus, there was a girl who was just jamming along on the dance floor. Come to find out, this girl was Sayuri Elsie. She lipsynced one of her songs, which was produced by one of the members of Circus. After meeting her and hearing her story, I realized she had a little bit more soul then your average.
Check out her live performances at 2nd Street Jazz during the New Year Celebration. Sayuri has tons of energy in her performance and great stage presence.

It’s finally here! Another volume of our special compilation series — CrayonBeats Volume 2: “East x West”. This is on a bigger scale than our first volume. More music and a different approach. This time, there are TWO compilations within the zip file. Tiffny took on the East compilation, and I (Tiffology) handled the West.
Now, let me first say that all the artists within the respective compilations aren’t necessarily from the East or West coast. What the East and West most represents is the different music that reaches two separate girls on opposite sides of the United States. Tiffny is from New York (East), and I am from Arizona (West). While we live in the same country and have the same name (haha), our taste in music differs a bit. And with this volume, we wanted to share music that we each like, and both support, by promoting their music and talent to YOU. A lot of them have been featured here, in some form.
