J-Murk – 100 Freestyle [Music Video]

Check out the video I directed for Arizona,Queens,Houston rapper J-Murk!
I met J-Murk almost a year ago when he performed at a Arizona house party hosted by my sister’s promotion group, Royal Attraction. I didn’t get much time to talk to him at the time but was interested in finding out who he was since my sister had said some good things about him. Months later he released a conscience Hip Hop music video for his song “The Truth”. After seeing that, I felt that I’d be a good idea to contact J-Murk to see what else he had coming out.

On my next trip to Arizona, we met up and created this clean but aggressive music video for his track “100 Freestyle”. It was funny because we didn’t have much time to really talk about the video until we were on location. All in all, J-Murk was great to work with.

RIP Keith Elam aka Guru of GangStarr

April 20th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Music

[tweetmeme]On April 19th, GangStarr rapper, Guru, passed away. (age 43) Guru was and still is one of my favorite emcees. Famous for his “monotone flow”, some people say I sometimes remind them of Guru. I used to listen to Gangstarr and Guru’s Jazzamatazz CDs everyday. Guru had a way of making you feel like he was rapping directly at you, and always brought logic and wisdom to the mic. You’ll always be remembered, RIP Guru.

Guru, one-half of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr, died yesterday due to complications from cancer. He was 43. The group’s influence on New York hip-hop is unparalleled, while Guru’s seminal 1993 album Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 — which dabbled in jazz, soul and funk — established him as a talented solo artist in his own right. Local artists such as Earthworms certainly carry on Guru and Gang Starr’s music and lyrical direction.”  -Taken from The Riverfront Times More »
