Yo, what’s up everybody? It’s your boy Sonny.
It’s been a long time since I posted a vlog on this channel — actually more than a year. Life didn’t stop during that time. If anything, things have been moving quickly behind the scenes.
I just stopped documenting it online.
So I decided to turn the camera back on and share a quick update about what’s been going on and what’s next.
Why I Disappeared for a While
Over the past couple of years, my focus shifted heavily toward work, clients, and creative projects. I was still active — but I simply stopped documenting my daily life and progress online.
There were still occasional Instagram posts and updates here and there, but compared to before, they became few and far between.
Meanwhile, a lot was happening off camera:
- Creative projects
- Working with clients
- Helping other artists
- Living life in Tokyo
- Building things behind the scenes
Even though it wasn’t visible online, the work never really stopped.
A Major Career Transition
One of the biggest changes during this time was a major transition in my career.
I spent a period working for a large Japanese company in a creative marketing role. My responsibilities included video production, photography, social media content, and creative direction.
It was a valuable experience and I learned a lot about my capabilities and potential.
At the same time, it required a lot of dedication and long hours — very much the typical Japanese company lifestyle.
Eventually I decided to move on and return to being fully freelance again.
Transitions like that take time mentally. It required a lot of reflection and adjustment, but it ultimately helped me move toward new opportunities.
What I’ve Been Doing Behind the Scenes
Even though I wasn’t posting much online, the creative work continued.
- Releasing new music
- Working on creative projects
- Helping other artists tell their stories
- Producing visual work for businesses and clients
- Performing live shows
- Traveling throughout Japan
So while things may have looked quiet online, there was actually a lot happening in the background.
Why I’m Turning the Camera Back On
Recently I realized something important.
Being productive and being present online are two different things.
You can work hard every day and build meaningful projects, but if you never share the journey, people can’t really see what you’re doing.
I also think there are people out there who may have similar goals or ambitions.
If sharing my story can motivate or inspire someone else along the way, then it’s worth documenting again.
What’s Next
A couple of weeks ago I attended a really inspiring music conference. I was invited by someone I respect a lot, and many conversations there centered around the importance of online presence and storytelling in today’s creative world.
The world has changed a lot compared to how things worked ten years ago.
So moving forward, I want to become more present again.
That means sharing:
- More vlogs
- Honest life updates
- Stories about living in Tokyo
- Experiences in the entertainment industry
- Perspectives as an international creative living in Japan
This isn’t about chasing perfection or viral moments.
It’s simply about showing up and sharing the journey.

みなさんこんにちは。Sonnyです。
このチャンネルにVlogを投稿するのは、実は1年以上ぶりになります。
その間、生活や活動が止まっていたわけではありません。むしろ仕事やクリエイティブな活動など、いろいろなことが裏で進んでいました。
ただ単純に、その過程をオンラインであまり発信していなかっただけです。
今回は久しぶりにカメラを回して、近況を少しお話ししようと思いました。
なぜ発信が減っていたのか
ここ数年、仕事やクライアント、クリエイティブプロジェクトなどに集中していました。
活動自体は続いていたのですが、日々の出来事をオンラインで発信することが少なくなっていました。
その間も裏では
- クリエイティブプロジェクト
- クライアントワーク
- アーティストのサポート
- 東京での生活
- 様々な準備や制作
など、いろいろなことが進んでいました。
キャリアの大きな変化
この期間の中で、自分のキャリアにも大きな変化がありました。
ある時期、日本の企業でクリエイティブ・マーケティング系の仕事をしていました。
主に
- 動画制作
- 写真撮影
- SNSコンテンツ制作
- クリエイティブディレクション
などを担当していました。
多くの経験を得ることができ、自分の可能性についても学ぶことができました。
ただ、日本の会社らしい働き方で長時間働くことも多く、最終的にはその仕事を離れ、再びフリーランスとして活動する道を選びました。
これからについて
最近、ある音楽カンファレンスに参加する機会がありました。
そこで多くの人が話していたのが、今の時代におけるオンラインでの発信の重要性でした。
10年前とは、クリエイターの活動の仕方が大きく変わっています。
これからはもう少し意識的に
- Vlog
- 近況アップデート
- 東京での生活
- エンタメ業界の話
- 海外出身クリエイターとしての視点
などを発信していきたいと思っています。
完璧を目指すのではなく、少しずつでも継続していくことを大切にしたいです。
