[NEW RELEASE] MaJiK – Just A Thought EP [OUT 01/26/12]

New release from MaJiK entitled, “JUST A THOUGHT”. This is the official debut EP from MaJiK. In JUST A THOUGHT, MaJiK takes you on a ride thought his mind. Discussing issues such as love, motivation, money, politics and more. MaJiK covers a variety of genres throughout the EP, including Hip Hop, Dubstep, Spoken Word, down-tempo, and more. But what is MaJiK’s trying to communicate to everyone, with the release of his new EP, JUST A THOUGHT? In MaJiK’s Words:

IMMA TRAVELING MAN!

Right now chilling in a Hyuga-City hotel, located in Miyazaki-Ken, Japan, I just started reflecting on on my life.  I been spending my life traveling from place to place.  Never stagenent. Always looking for the next thing. I’d rather die than to be locked in my home for more than a nights sleep.

This year I’ve been to many places.  Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego,
York City, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Fukushima, Yokohama, Honolulu, Mexico, and now Miyazaki.

Talking with my colleagues, I realized my lifestyle isn’t a normal one.

I am thankful to God for giving me the opportunity, energy, power, and motivation to live this life!

JOIKO, is the kind of girl that goes after her ambition and is ready to take risk. The day of the release of this song, I instantly contacted JOIKO and, “Yo! you gotta handle this new release by UTADA”. She had no idea what I was talking about, So I sent over the track and romanized the lyrics for her to sing. She took it upon herself to tackle it and come through with an amazing cover and a excellent performance in a music video.

Possibilities

Since moving to Japan, my mind has spinning! There is nothing more life awakening then getting up and moving to another country! Been meeting so many great people, hoping to create and be apart of amazing things in the near future! It’s a hustle and journey at the same time! I look forward to this path. As my grandmother once told me, “You gotta keep on, Keepin On”.

MC HINOMARU – BREAK UP -short ver- (Montage Video)

My fellow brethren in music and good friend, MC HINOMARU, and I got together to create a music video to signify his transition to his next chapter in the music industry. MC HINOMARU had planned to take his music career to the next level and promote out in Japan. We got together the night of his final show in the US to create this montage video.

Like myself alike, MC HINOMARU, is always on the grind and striving for higher goals. We had originally planned to do a full music video, but as always time was against us. Arriving at his final show, we both had no idea what to actually film. With a bit of thought we decided the montage route might be the best of choices.

Prior to filming the video, MC HINOMARU had sent me a variety of new songs of his. After gathering footage from the final live performance, I spent some time listening to HINOMARU’s music closely and decided “BREAK UP” was the right choice. The song itself sends a message of of leaving and returning at the same time. Lyrically its one that we can all relate to in some way or another. The continuous piano loop really elevates the song to the next level, make it feel Japanese NUJABES-esque yet multidimensional.  MC HINOMARU writes

This lyric was deep for me, and I couldn’t write it without tearing up. 

I had a great time working with MC HINOMARU, and hope the best for his music career. He’s very talented with tons of ambition.
